Forest Schools Kindergarten ltd. is looking for a Nursery Manager in Middlewood, Sheffield on a full time permanent contract
Salary Scale; £22,000 to £30,000 depending on nature kindergarten experience

The new Nature Nursery is recruiting a Nursery Manager in Sheffield. The role of the Nursery Manager will be to effectively manage the day-to-day running of the Nursery, including financial operations ensuring that all legislation is complied with and that company policies and procedures are adhered to. The successful candidate will recruit, support, train and appraise all staff within the nursery and ensure that all children attending the setting are kept safe and receive rich and stimulating play experiences. It is essential that the Manger is passionate and dedicated about Outdoor Learning as this is the main function of the Forest Schools Nature Nursery mission
Key Responsibilities
To lead the implementation of the Early Years Foundation Stage with special emphasis on the outdoor curriculum, including overseeing planning and record keeping.
Promote and facilitate partnership with parents/carers and other family members.
Develop and maintain highly professional working relationships with relevant Local Authority departments, regulatory bodies and other agencies.
Remain abreast of current developments in childcare and education policies and practices.
Operate the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the nursery.
Facilitate Ofsted inspections and to implement any recommendations.
Promote the nursery to current and potential customers.
Supply accurate monitoring information including occupancy overviews and competitor analysis.
Maintain accurate accounts for the nursery and produce management information in accordance with company procedures.
Manage, monitor and control budgets and maintain petty cash systems.
Prepare salaries monthly.
Be responsible for the collection, recording and banking of fees.
Manage the recruitment and induction procedure for all new staff.
Maintain accurate staff records including a list of supply staff.
Hold regular supervisions and appraisals.
Identify training needs, develop a training plan and evaluate training undertaken by staff.
Undertake or assist in disciplinary and grievance investigations and meetings with regard to staff.
Lead the preparation and delivery of regular staff meetings, planning meetings and parents meetings and other events.
Use the computer effectively for storing information using the nursery software system.
Support and mentor all staff in carrying out their job roles.
Undertake any other duties as reasonably requested by management
Set up, market and oversee the delivery of the Family Forest Schools Kindergarten provision as well as developing the holiday provision this summer in readiness for the nursery opening in autumn
The Candidate
A minimum of 3 to 5 year post qualification experience in a full day care setting.
Experience as a Nursery Manager is essential with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a supervisory role in the delivery of services to young children.
Experience of leading and supporting staff teams to improve practice.
Experience of financial management and budget planning.
A Childcare and Education qualification equivalent to NVQ level 3.
A higher level qualification in Early Years Childcare and Education/Childhood Studies.
A management qualification.
A current First Aid qualification.
A sound knowledge of childcare development from birth to five years.
A knowledge and understanding of research related to childcare and education.
A sound understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
An understanding of a play based approach to children’s learning and development.
Understanding of the role of the “Key Person”.
A sound knowledge of safeguarding procedures.
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
Ability to develop effective relationships with all key stakeholders.
Effective leadership skills.
An ability to plan and organise work load.
An understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities.
Ability to use computers and software packages.
An understanding of Health and Safety in the workplace.
A willingness to undertake further training including some evenings and weekends.
